AIPWS hosts blood donation drive at SMGS Hospital

JAMMU, Oct 2: In an earnest bid to address mounting healthcare demands and encourage community welfare, the All India People’s Welfare Society (AIPWS) successfully organized a blood donation camp at the Blood Bank of Sri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital here on Friday.

Spearheaded by AIPWS Coordinator Arif Hussain alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, the initiative aimed to bolster local reserves. Demonstrating civic commitment, volunteer Irshad Hussain led the charge by stepping forward to donate blood during the drive.

The event drew prominent medical figures and healthcare advocates including Dr. Meena Sidhu, Head of the Department for Blood Transfusion at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. She was joined by technical experts and staff members Rakesh Dogra, Ashok Kumar, Anil Gill and Qutib Din.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sidhu underscored the critical, life-saving value of voluntary blood donation. While commending the initiative, she candidly pointed out the modest turnout and urged organizers and participants to redouble their outreach efforts.

“It is the fundamental duty of volunteers to actively engage the masses, raise awareness and dispel hesitation surrounding blood donation,” Dr. Sidhu stressed calling for a broader community mobilization movement.

The camp operated under the direct supervision of Coordinator Arif Hussain who ensured its smooth execution. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Hussain who expressed gratitude to the medical staff of SMGS Hospital and the participating volunteers for their sincere dedication to public service.
