REASI, Oct 23: The initiative of the Directorate of Handicrafts, Jammu, to run a Craft Training Centre in the remote village of Bhabbar Brahmana Rasyalan in Reasi district has been appreciated by local residents. The centre is providing valuable opportunities for women and young girls to learn handicrafts and develop skills that can help them become self-reliant and earn a livelihood.

The training centre is particularly beneficial for women and girls from economically weaker and underprivileged families who cannot afford to travel to distant places to acquire vocational skills. The centre has been providing training for nearly two years under the supervision of Ram Das, Assistant Craft Man.

Abdul Quddir Kundria, a local personality, writer, poet and social activist, appreciated the efforts of the Directorate of Handicrafts, Jammu, for operating the training centre in this remote area. He stated that such initiatives deserve the highest appreciation as they bring skill development opportunities closer to people who otherwise face difficulties in accessing them.

He emphasised that, alongside learning handicrafts and acquiring livelihood skills, women and young girls should also contribute towards addressing social evils, particularly drug abuse. He said that women and girls can play a significant role in protecting the younger generation from drugs and bringing positive change to society. He appealed to them to actively participate in efforts to eradicate drug abuse and help build a healthy and drug-free society.
