KATHUA, Aug 3: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Kathua, on Monday successfully conducted the Inter-School District-Level Trials-cum-Selection for Under-19 Girls in Karate, Wushu, and Taekwondo, along with all age-group girls’ selection trials in Softball, Basketball, and Fencing.
The trials witnessed the participation of around 140 athletes from schools across the district, who displayed impressive talent, discipline, and sportsmanship. Karate, Softball, and Basketball trials were held at the Sports Stadium, Kathua, while Fencing trials took place at NAZ Ground, Billawar. The selection process will continue until August 4, 2026.
The event is being organized under the guidance of Director General, Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Anuradha Gupta, and under the supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Kathua, Sh. Sunil Kumar, in accordance with the department’s annual calendar of activities.
DYSSO Kathua, Sunil Kumar, interacted with the participants, motivating them to give their best performances. He also instructed the selection committee to ensure a fair and transparent selection process, choosing only the most deserving players to represent the district at higher-level competitions.
Before the commencement of the trials, all participants and officials took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society.
