JAMMU, Jun 28: Members of the sports fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir in a press conference countered what they describe as misinformation being circulated regarding the appointment of outstanding sportspersons under S.O.-12 of 2022, read with S.O.-412 of 2023.
According to a statement issued by the sports fraternity, certain individuals, including Ranjodh Singh, have allegedly been making public statements and circulating misleading information concerning the recruitment process. The statement maintains that the appointments were carried out through a transparent, merit-based, and legally approved procedure in accordance with the notified rules.
The sports fraternity asserted that the recruitment process involved scrutiny and verification at multiple levels by the competent authorities. It stated that selections were made only after detailed examination by the designated committees and the departments concerned, strictly following the provisions laid down under the applicable rules.
The statement further noted that the merit lists and other related records have remained in the public domain for several years and that the recruitment process had undergone all prescribed stages of scrutiny before receiving final approval. It emphasized that any attempt to question the integrity of the process without factual evidence only creates unnecessary confusion among genuine sportspersons and the general public.
Expressing concern over recent developments, the sports fraternity alleged that certain narratives are being propagated targeting specific sports disciplines and casting doubts on the fairness of the appointments. It described these allegations as factually incorrect and claimed that they appear to be motivated by vested interests rather than an objective understanding of the rules governing the recruitment process.
To clarify the issue, members of the sports fraternity said they would soon address the media and place the complete factual position before the public. They stated that the proposed press conference aims to dispel misconceptions, present official records relating to the recruitment process, and reaffirm the transparency, fairness, and legality of the appointments made under S.O.-12 of 2022. The sports fraternity also appealed to media organizations and other stakeholders to verify facts from official records before reporting on the matter. It urged all concerned to avoid relying on unsubstantiated claims and stressed that factual and responsible reporting is essential to safeguard the interests of genuine sportspersons and preserve confidence in the recruitment process.
