KULGAM, Jun 24: Residents of Kund Valley have urged the Chief Minister to take immediate steps for the development of the famous Vasaknag Spring as a recognized tourist destination in the district.
The locals told Top News JK Correspondent Gh Nabi Khanday that Vasaknag Spring, known for its crystal-clear water and serene surroundings, holds immense potential to attract tourists from across Jammu and Kashmir and beyond. Despite its natural beauty and cultural significance, the site has remained largely neglected due to the lack of infrastructure and official recognition.
Residents expressed concern that no proper facilities such as road connectivity, signage, seating arrangements, or cleanliness measures are available at the spot, making it difficult for visitors to access and enjoy the location.
“We have a natural gem in our area, but it has not been promoted or developed. If the government pays attention, Vasaknag can become a major tourist attraction,” said a local resident.
The people of the area believe that developing the spring will not only boost tourism but also generate employment opportunities for local youth and uplift the economic condition of Kund Valley.
They have appealed to the Chief Minister to personally intervene and direct the concerned departments to include Vasaknag Spring in the official list of tourist destinations and ensure its proper development while preserving its natural beauty.
Residents remain hopeful that timely government action will help unlock the tourism potential of the area and bring it onto the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.
