KULGAM, Jun 8: MLA Devsar, Peerzada Feroze Ahmad, on Monday inaugurated the newly constructed Naib Tehsil Office at Nowbugh Kund in the presence of DC Kulgam Shahzad Alam (IAS) and other district officers.
The MLA also laid the foundation stone of a library under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) aimed at promoting education and providing a dedicated reading space for students and youth.
Later, the MLA, accompanied by DC Kulgam and senior officers, visited the Waltengoo Ziyarat Sharif and reviewed the progress of ongoing developmental works.
He directed the concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of the project.
Speaking to reporters, the MLA said that the inauguration of the Naib Tehsil Office was an important step towards strengthening public service delivery in the area.
“Today we have inaugurated the Naib Tehsil Office at Nowbugh Kund to ensure better administrative facilities for the people. We have also laid the foundation stone of a library under the CDF for the benefit of students and youth,” he said.
The MLA said that during his public outreach programmes, people have repeatedly raised the issue of several government offices operating from private rented accommodations.
“People have raised concerns that some government offices are functioning from rented buildings. We have taken note of the issue. There are government buildings available and all such offices will be shifted to government-owned buildings in a phased manner,” he said.
Responding to a question on the development of Waltengoo Ziyarat Sharif, the MLA said work on the project is progressing at full pace.
“The work continued even during the winter period. There was a brief delay for a few days due to issues related to the design of windows, but the project is moving ahead smoothly and will be completed before the Urs this year,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the MLA and DC Kulgam, along with district officials, visited the Berigam water canal near the Migrant Colony in Chowgam to assess the irrigation water crisis affecting local farmers.
During the visit, residents highlighted the shortage of irrigation water and sought immediate intervention. The officials assured the public that necessary measures would be taken and that water supply to the affected area would be restored at the earliest to facilitate agricultural activities.
