JAMMU, Nov 4: The Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu, organised “Udhyam Utsav 1.0 – The Commerce Carnival” on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, celebrating the festival of lights with immense enthusiasm, joy, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
The carnival was inaugurated by Senior Professor K. S. Chandrashekar (Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu), in the gracious presence of Ankur Mahajan (JKAS) Registrar, Cluster University of Jammu at the Chandrabhaga Campus of Cluster University of Jammu. Their presence added significance to the occasion and encouraged students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation and experiential learning.
The event witnessed a vibrant and festive atmosphere, with a diverse range of stalls showcasing students’ creativity, entrepreneurial skills and marketing abilities. The attractions included food stalls offering a variety of delicacies, exciting games and recreational activities, along with stalls displaying traditional Diwali items such as beautifully decorated diyas, candles and other festive decorative products. The local cultural performances of students have enhanced the grace of the occasion. The colourful arrangements and enthusiastic participation of students made the carnival a lively celebration of the spirit of Diwali.
The event was designed to provide students with practical exposure to entrepreneurship, product development, branding, pricing, marketing, customer interaction and sales management. It also aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world business experiences by encouraging students to transform their innovative ideas into entrepreneurial ventures.
“Udhyam Utsav 1.0: The Commerce Carnival” reflected the commitment of the Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences, Cluster University of Jammu towards fostering creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and experiential learning among students. The successful organisation of the carnival was made possible through the valuable guidance and support of Dr. Vishal Sharma (Dean, School of Social Sciences), Dr. Ajay Kumar Chalotra (Head, Department of Commerce & Convenor of the Event), Dr. Neetu Kumari (Co-convenor), Dr. Vaishali and Dr. Prinka Dogra (Event Coordinators); other faculty members of the School of Social Sciences; Research Scholars and Students of the Department of Commerce, School of Social Sciences whose dedicated efforts and active involvement added grace and vibrancy to the occasion. The carnival concluded as a memorable celebration of the festive spirit, student talent and the vibrant culture of Cluster University of Jammu.
