JAMMU, Nov 4: Shri Ram Sena (J&K-UT) President Rajiv Mahajan has urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to announce a special relief and rehabilitation package for the traders affected by the devastating fire at Shiv Market, Jammu, before Diwali.

Rajiv Mahajan said that the fire incident has caused huge losses to shopkeepers, many of whom have lost their entire stock, business establishments and sources of livelihood. He said the affected traders are facing immense financial hardship at a time when the festive season, particularly Diwali, should have brought hope and business opportunities.

He appealed to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally intervene and ensure immediate financial assistance to the affected shopkeepers.

Mahajan demanded:

– Immediate financial compensation to all fire-affected traders.

– Special relief assistance to help them restart their businesses.

– Easy and speedy processing of insurance claims.

– Temporary arrangements for affected traders to resume their commercial activities.

– A comprehensive assessment of losses without unnecessary bureaucratic delays.

He said that the government must stand firmly with the affected business community and announce the relief package before Diwali so that traders can celebrate the festival with some hope and dignity.

“The affected traders need immediate government support, not assurances. Diwali is approaching, and the government must act without delay to bring relief to families whose livelihoods have been destroyed by the fire,” Mahajan said.

He added that Shri Ram Sena stands in solidarity with the affected traders and will continue to raise their concerns until justice and adequate compensation are provided.
