JAMMU / YOL, May 31: On the 50th day of the ongoing 78-day Yajna Anushthan of the four Vedas at Ved Mandir, Yol, renowned Vedic scholar and Yoga Acharya Swami Ram Swarup Ji delivered a detailed discourse on Samaveda Mantra 350, emphasizing that God is eternally pure and, therefore, all human beings are commanded to praise and worship Him through the pure Vedic mantras that have emanated from Him.
Explaining the mantra, Swami Ji said that the essence of the Vedas is that one must first understand God through Vedic knowledge and only thereafter engage in His worship. Referring to Yajurveda Mantra 40/8, he stated that God has been described as Kayarahit (bodiless) and Nirakar Brahm (formless Supreme Being). In the light of these Vedic teachings, he explained that practices such as bathing God, dressing Him in fine clothes, offering food to Him, or worshipping Him through physical rituals become contrary to Vedic injunctions.
Swami Ji stressed that before worshipping God, it is essential to acquire true knowledge from the Vedas regarding who God is and the proper method of His worship. He cautioned that when human beings, guided merely by their minds and intellects influenced by the qualities of rajas, tamas and sattva, arbitrarily accept any entity as God and worship it, such actions are not in accordance with the Vedas. Quoting Rigveda Mantra 10/125/4, he said that such practices amount to disrespecting the Supreme Being and invite divine displeasure.
Drawing attention to Samaveda Mantra 1404, Swami Ji said that God instructs humanity to pray in a righteous manner, seeking pure wealth, prosperity earned through virtuous means, blessings for generous and noble persons, and the destruction of evil, impure and demonic tendencies. He explained that the Vedas teach mankind to seek purity, righteousness and welfare for society through sincere prayers to the Almighty.
Further elaborating on Samaveda Mantras 1246 and 1247, Swami Ram Swarup Ji stated that praise, prayer and worship of God can be performed only through Vedic mantras and that God listens exclusively to Vedic speech. He expressed concern that since the beginning of Kaliyuga, mankind has largely drifted away from these divine teachings. As a consequence, he observed, humanity has been deprived of the happiness and prosperity that people in previous ages attained by following Vedic wisdom.Swami Ji urged devotees to return to the study and practice of Vedic knowledge, asserting that genuine peace, prosperity and spiritual upliftment can be achieved only by living in accordance with the eternal teachings of the Vedas.
