JAMMU, Oct 6: Members of the Dolphin Swimming Club, under the presidency of Sanjeev Dogra, along with other team members, today called upon the Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu, and submitted a representation regarding the unhygienic condition of the swimming pool at M.A. Stadium, Jammu.
The delegation highlighted that the pool water had become unclear and unhygienic, with algae accumulation, making it difficult for swimmers to use the facility safely and comfortably. The members urged the authorities to ensure immediate cleaning, proper filtration and regular maintenance of the swimming pool.
The Divisional Sports Officer assured the delegation that the concerned authorities would take necessary steps to clean and properly maintain the swimming pool and ensure better hygiene and filtration. The officer also assured that the possibility of providing a proper heating system for the pool would be taken up with the concerned authorities.
The members further pointed out that the swimming pool has been made operational this year after nearly eight years of waiting. At the time of its opening, it was stated through newspaper reports that the pool would remain operational throughout the year with a proper heating system. However, the members expressed concern that they are now being informed that the pool does not presently have a heating facility and may, therefore, not be able to operate during the winter months.
The delegation welcomed the assurance given by the Divisional Sports Officer and expressed hope that the concerned authorities will take concrete steps at the earliest to ensure clean, hygienic and properly maintained swimming facilities, along with a suitable heating system, so that the pool can genuinely remain functional throughout the year.
