JAMMU, Sep 25: The Jammu Kashmir Teachers’ Joint Action Committee (JKTJAC) has expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Minister for School Education Sakina Masood Itoo, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and the Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for supporting and voting in favour of a resolution concerning the long-pending issues of in-service teachers.

In a press statement issued by JKTJAC UT President Vinod Sharma, the committee described the development as an important step towards addressing the genuine concerns of the teaching fraternity. He said the move had strengthened the confidence of thousands of teachers in the democratic process and reflected attention towards issues that have remained pending for a considerable period.

Sharma placed special appreciation on record for School Education Minister Sakina Masood Itoo for her engagement with representatives of the teaching community and for the assurances conveyed during various interactions and conventions.

He recalled that the Education Minister had assured the JKTJAC delegation, led by UT President Vinod Sharma and Chairman Saleem Sagar, that the concerns of in-service teachers would be taken up at the appropriate level. Such interactions were held at the Convention Centre in Jammu, Neelam Orchid Banquet Hall in Udhampur and Teachers’ Bhawan in Srinagar.

“JKTJAC gratefully acknowledges the steps taken towards fulfilling those assurances,” Sharma said.

He expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, Education Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and legislators who supported the resolution concerning the concerns and aspirations of teachers.

“Assurances become meaningful when they translate into action, and today we appreciate this important step,” Sharma said, adding that the committee’s gratitude was not merely for the resolution but also for the recognition and dignity accorded to the teaching fraternity.

Sharma assured teachers that JKTJAC would continue to work for their welfare, dignity and genuine rights through democratic, peaceful and constructive engagement with the government.

The committee said it would continue to place issues concerning in-service teachers before the appropriate authorities and pursue them through institutional and democratic channels.
