JAMMU, May 29: Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Jammu, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, conducted a two-day tour of Basohli and Bani areas of Kathua district to assess the functioning of the department and review the availability of essential commodities.

During the visit, the Director interacted with departmental employees and obtained first-hand information regarding the functioning of various units. He reviewed the supply position of essential commodities and inspected food stores and Fair Price Shops to ensure smooth distribution of ration and other consumer goods.

At Basohli, the Director visited departmental food stores and Fair Price Shops, where he interacted with consumers and received feedback regarding the quality and availability of civil supplies. He also discussed various issues faced by consumers and assured them of timely redressal.

In Bani, the Director inspected departmental stores, Fair Price Shops and LPG outlets. He emphasized the need for transparency, accountability and public-oriented service delivery. He directed the officials to work with dedication and ensure that consumers receive all entitled benefits without inconvenience.

The Director also issued strict instructions against any form of unfair trade practices in the market. He directed the concerned officials to conduct regular market inspections, checking drives and sampling of essential commodities to safeguard consumer interests and maintain quality standards.

He stressed the importance of maintaining adequate stocks of essential items and ensuring uninterrupted supply in far-flung and hilly areas.

It is pertinent to mention that the Director is presently on a five-day field tour covering Kathua, Basohli, Bani, Lohai Malhar, Sarthal, Bhaderwah and Chirrala in Doda district. The tour aims to review the functioning of the department at the grassroots level and facilitate interaction with consumers, traders and other stakeholders for improving service delivery across the Jammu region.
