R S PURA, Sep 20: Shiv Sena Hindustan Jammu and Kashmir President Pandit Rajesh Kesri chaired a meeting at Chak Sera village in RS Pura, where a large number of villagers raised concerns over prolonged power shortages and frequent electricity cuts affecting the area.
During the meeting, villagers said that an additional electricity transformer had been sanctioned and allocated through local MLA Gharu Ram, but despite the passage of nearly three months and the allocation of funds, the transformer has not yet been installed.
Kesri said the delay was causing considerable inconvenience to residents, particularly students preparing for examinations and competitive entrance tests. He pointed out that students appearing for examinations such as NEET and engineering entrance examinations increasingly depend on mobile phones, computers and other electronic devices for study material, online classes and preparation, making a reliable electricity supply important for their education.
He also highlighted the difficulties being faced by elderly residents and other villagers due to frequent and prolonged power cuts. During hot weather, he said, the absence of electricity affects the use of fans and other essential household appliances, adding to the difficulties of residents.
Kesri said that a delegation of Shiv Sena Hindustan would soon meet MLA Gharu Ram and approach the concerned electricity department officials to seek the immediate installation of the sanctioned transformer. He urged the authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest in the larger public interest and provide relief to the residents of Chak Sera.
During the meeting, Kesri also appealed to villagers to remain vigilant against the sale and use of drugs in the area. He urged residents to cooperate with the police and civil administration in efforts to prevent drug abuse and protect young people from its harmful effects.
Chak Sera village head Suresh Kumar, along with Lal Chand, Mukh Chand and dozens of other villagers, were present during the meeting.
