SRINAGAR, Sep 12: All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) Chairman and senior political leader Jagmohan Raina has described the 18th BRICS Summit as an encouraging development, saying that the coming together of major countries provides an important platform to discuss economic development, security, mutual cooperation and global stability.
Raina said BRICS has emerged as an important international platform where major economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, Iran and Saudi Arabia, can come together to exchange views on issues concerning their respective countries as well as the wider global community.
He said the summit provides an opportunity for participating nations to deliberate on key areas including resilience, innovation, trade, finance, cooperation and sustainability. According to him, meaningful dialogue among world leaders can create opportunities to address differences, resolve issues and strengthen cooperation between nations.
“Whenever world leaders sit across the table and engage in meaningful dialogue, it creates opportunities to address differences, resolve issues and build greater cooperation among nations,” Raina said.
He emphasised that platforms such as BRICS are important for promoting peace and economic stability across the world. Direct interaction between leaders, he said, enables countries to discuss bilateral and global challenges and work towards practical solutions.
Raina also highlighted the need to strengthen economic ties among participating countries and explore new opportunities in trade, investment and development. He said greater economic cooperation can contribute to stability and create opportunities for people, particularly the younger generation.
At the same time, Raina said other major economies, including the United States, United Kingdom and Japan, should also become part of broader global dialogue platforms to promote a more inclusive international mechanism for addressing common global challenges.
“The younger generation across the world wants cooperation rather than confrontation. They want world leaders to work together on peace, economic development, security and sustainability,” Raina said.
Welcoming the BRICS Summit as a positive initiative, Raina expressed hope that the deliberations would result in meaningful outcomes and further strengthen the spirit of cooperation, peace and economic stability among nations.
