JAMMU, Sep 3: Government Degree College Billawar emerged victorious in the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Women) Championship 2026–2027, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from women Kabaddi teams representing various affiliated colleges of the University of Jammu.
The second day of the championship featured exciting and closely contested matches, with the participating teams displaying remarkable strength, agility, tactical understanding, coordination, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Semi-final-I, GDC Billawar defeated GCW Udhampur by 10 points, registering a convincing 20–10 victory to secure its place in the final.
Semi-final-II, GCW Parade defeated GCW Kathua by 05 points, winning the closely fought encounter by 24–20.
The third-place match saw GCW Udhampur defeat GCW Kathua by 04 points, with a final score of 24-20, thereby securing the third position in the championship.
In the final, GDC Billawar put up a strong performance to defeat GCW Parade and clinch the Inter-Collegiate Kabaddi (Women) Championship title. GCW Parade finished as the runner-up, while GCW Udhampur secured the third position.
Dr. Alka Sharma, Principal, GDC Billawar, was the Chief Guest on the occasion and presented the trophy and medals to the winning and runner-up teams.
The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Raj Kumar Bakshi, Ravish Vaid, Vikas Karlopia, Gagan Kumar, S. P. D. Singh, Jai Bharat, Narinder Paul Sharma, Physical Director, GDC Billawar, and Neeru Manhas, Physical Director, GCW Parade, along with other team in-charges and faculty members.
The tournament was organized under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, whose guidance and leadership have contributed significantly to the promotion and development of sports activities among the students of affiliated colleges.
The matches were officiated by a panel of comprising Anil Sharma, Ajay Gupta, Dheeraj Sharma, Harpreet Singh, Amandeep Singh, Prajwal Slathia, Ashfaq Hussain and Gagan Kumar.
Their expertise and dedicated efforts contributed to the smooth, disciplined and fair conduct of the championship.
