JAMMU, Aug 28: Demonstrating vigilance and sensitivity towards child safety, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) safely rescued a minor girl found alone at Jammu Railway Station under its ongoing ‘Operation Nanhe Farishte’ campaign.
The incident occurred on August 26, 2026, when RPF personnel, during routine patrolling on Platform No. 2, noticed a minor girl wandering alone in a nervous condition. Acting promptly, the security personnel called Lady Constable Jyoti to the spot. She comforted the child and spoke to her in a protective manner to ascertain her identity and circumstances.
The RPF immediately informed members of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) about the matter. During interaction with the girl, it was learnt that she was a resident of Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and a Class 12 student. She reportedly left her home without informing her family after being scolded by her father.
Prioritising the safety and well-being of the child, RPF personnel brought her to the RPF Post, Jammu, where all necessary legal formalities were completed in accordance with prescribed procedures. A handing-over memo was prepared, following which the girl was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee for counselling and further action aimed at her safe reunion with her family.
The railway administration appreciated the alertness and timely intervention of the RPF personnel and reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of passengers, particularly women and children. It said such child-protection initiatives would continue across Jammu Division.
