Gasran–Sports Stadium link road macadamised, locals welcome long-pending development

KULGAM, Aug 25: The long-pending Gasran–Sports Stadium link road in Kulgam has finally been macadamised, bringing much-needed relief to residents, students and daily commuters who had been facing difficulties due to its deteriorated condition.

The road had remained in poor shape for a prolonged period, with potholes, damaged stretches and water accumulation making travel particularly difficult and hazardous during the rainy season.

Locals welcomed the completion of the macadamisation work and described it as a long-awaited development. They expressed gratitude to Minister Sakina Itoo and the Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department, Devsar, for addressing their long-standing demand.

“This road had been in a very poor condition for years, and the situation would become worse during rains. Commuters, students and local residents faced a lot of inconvenience. The macadamisation has finally provided us relief, and we thank Minister Sakina Itoo and the R&B Department, Devsar, for taking up this important work,” a local resident said.

Another resident said the road serves as an important link for the locality and that its improvement would make daily commuting safer and smoother.

“We had repeatedly raised the issue of the damaged road. Its macadamisation was a long-pending demand of the people. We appreciate the authorities for fulfilling it and hope the road will now be properly maintained so that it remains in good condition for a long time,” the resident said.

The completion of the work has been welcomed as a significant step towards improving local connectivity and easing the daily travel difficulties faced by people in the area.
