JAMMU, Aug 23: The routine meeting of the Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (Regd.), Jammu, was held under the presidentship of Rajinder P. Kakkar, wherein several long-pending issues concerning the residents of Trikuta Nagar were discussed in detail.
The meeting unanimously decided to highlight these issues before the concerned authorities through the print and electronic media, urging the administration and other departments to take time-bound measures for their early resolution in the larger interest of the residents.
A major concern raised during the meeting was the frequent disruption of power supply in Trikuta Nagar. The society stated that the 11 KV RBI-2 feeder, emanating from the RBI 33 KV/11 KV receiving station, reportedly experiences around 25 to 30 trippings daily, causing repeated interruptions and considerable inconvenience to residents. The situation has particularly affected senior citizens, who are compelled to face sleepless nights, especially during periods of high humidity.
The society acknowledged the efforts and prompt response of the concerned sub-division but observed that the problem requires intervention at a higher level. It called for better coordination between the Power Development Department (PDD) and PHE, along with adequate funding, regular monitoring and time-bound directions to ensure a permanent solution. The society also expressed concern over the possible damage to household electronic appliances caused by frequent power fluctuations.
Another important demand was the removal of old and hanging electrical wires and unused electricity poles from the area. The society termed these obsolete installations as potential safety hazards and urged the concerned authorities to remove them before they result in any mishap, loss of life or damage to property.
The issue of inadequate drinking water supply in Trikuta Nagar was also discussed. The society stated that residents have repeatedly been assured that a new tube well would be bored in Ward 54, Trikuta Nagar, but the promised work is yet to provide the desired relief. The members recalled the assurance given by the Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) during an interaction session at the TNWS Community Complex and urged the authorities to fulfil the commitment at the earliest.
The society further demanded blacktopping of all roads and lanes in Trikuta Nagar after the rainy season, along with the installation of speed breakers at locations where they are necessary. It stated that these demands have already been submitted to the concerned authorities, including the JMC and PWD, and called for their early execution.
The meeting witnessed the participation of a large number of Trikuta Nagar residents. Among those present were Er. Partap Singh, Er. Varinder Kumar Suri, Som Nath Kaul, Deepak Mehra, Sandeep Sharma, Vijay Gupta, Advocate Harshvardhan Gupta, Anil Sharma, Mukesh Gupta, Inderjeet Singh and Pradhuman Singh, who also raised various long-pending issues affecting the locality.
The Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society appealed to the highest authorities to take serious note of the concerns and ensure regular follow-up, adequate funding and time-bound implementation so that residents, particularly senior citizens, are provided with reliable essential services and a safe living environment.
