JAMMU, Aug 22: The 7th Jammu District Yogasana Sports Championship 2026–27 concluded successfully today at the Judo Hall, M.A. Stadium, Jammu, with enthusiastic participation from athletes representing various schools and institutions across Jammu district.
The championship was organised by the Jammu District Yogasana Sports Association under the aegis of the Jammu & Kashmir Yogasana Sports Association, affiliated with Yogasana Bharat and recognised by the J&K Sports Council. The event aimed to promote Yogasana as a competitive sport, encourage youth participation and identify promising talent at the district level.
The championship witnessed the participation of more than 175 athletes, besides around 40 technical officials, coaches and supporting staff. Athletes competed in the Senior A, Senior B, Senior C and Junior categories. The strong participation reflected the growing popularity of Yogasana among young athletes in Jammu.
A notable feature of the championship was the participation of students from various schools, who displayed excellent skills, flexibility, balance, concentration and discipline during the competitions. Their enthusiastic participation added vibrancy to the championship and highlighted the growing interest among the younger generation in taking up Yogasana as a competitive sporting discipline.
The competitions were conducted under the guidance and support of the Jammu & Kashmir Yogasana Sports Association, with technical officials and coaches ensuring the smooth, fair and disciplined conduct of the championship.
Divya Gupta, Zonal Head, Jammu and Vice President, Jammu & Kashmir Yogasana Sports Association, along with office bearers of the Jammu District Yogasana Sports Association, coaches and technical officials, extended their support and encouragement to the participating athletes.
The medal-winning athletes delivered commendable performances and brought laurels to Jammu district and the Jammu & Kashmir Yogasana Sports Association. Their performances are expected to provide them opportunities to progress towards UT/State-level competitions and subsequently compete at National Championships through the prescribed selection process.
Yogasana is emerging as an important competitive sporting discipline in the country, providing talented athletes with opportunities to develop their skills, demonstrate their abilities and pursue higher levels of sporting achievement.
The successful conduct of the 7th Jammu District Yogasana Sports Championship marks another significant step towards strengthening the grassroots structure of Yogasana Sports in Jammu and Kashmir. It also provides a structured pathway for young athletes from the district to progress towards UT/State and national-level competitions.
The Jammu District Yogasana Sports Association congratulated all participating athletes, medal winners, coaches, technical officials, volunteers, parents and supporting staff for their valuable contribution towards making the championship a grand success.
