R S PURA, Aug 17: The Independence Day celebrations organized by GDC RS Pura concluded today with a dignified and memorable closing ceremony under the patronage of the worthy Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour.
The events were organized by the Cultural Committee under the aegis of the Dr. AnupamaPandotra, Convener Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC). The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Shivani Manchanda, HOD Economics. The ceremony was attended by prominent faculty members, students, and committee members. The programme reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity, and national pride associated with Independence Day.
The closing ceremony featured poem recitation, patriotic/folk song and speeches. Participants who excelled in various competitions and activities conducted as part of the Independence Day celebrations were felicitated with certificates. Rupinder, a third-semester student, excelled in the district- and divisional-level painting competitions, showcasing the spirit of nationalism through artistic expression.
During the ceremony, the Principal congratulated the organizers and participants for their enthusiastic involvement in the celebrations. In the address, the importance of safeguarding the values of freedom, democracy, unity, and national integrity was highlighted. The gathering was also reminded of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the responsibility of every citizen to contribute towards the progress and development of the nation.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Savleen Kour, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, participants, organizers, and the audience for making the Independence Day celebrations successful.
