Symposium on “The Role of Youth in Nation-Building: Innovation and Startups” organised

JAMMU Aug 17: The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Institutional Innovation Council (IIC), Cluster University of Jammu, organised a symposium on “The Role of Youth in Nation-Building: Innovation and Startups” as part of the 80th Independence Day Celebrations 2026.

The programme commenced with the National Anthem, setting a patriotic tone for the event. The symposium provided students with a platform to express their views on the role of youth in nation-building, with particular emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship and startups. Students actively participated in the discussion and shared their ideas and perspectives.

The Resource Person, Prof. Shahbaz Ahmed Sheikh, Assistant Professor, M.A.M. College, Jammu, delivered an insightful PowerPoint presentation on the theme. He highlighted the importance of innovation, creativity, entrepreneurship and technological advancement in empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to the development of the nation.

Prof. ChanderShekhar Gupta, Coordinator, Department of Mathematics and Dean, Faculty of Sciences, addressed the gathering and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students. He encouraged the students to develop an innovative mindset, explore new ideas and take an active role in nation-building through knowledge, creativity and entrepreneurship.

The programme also included a prize distribution ceremony, wherein prizes and certificates were presented to the students in recognition of their outstanding participation and performance. The students were appreciated for their enthusiasm, creativity and active involvement in the activities.

The programme concluded with the Kulgeet, the anthem of Cluster University of Jammu, bringing the event to a dignified and memorable close.

The event successfully inspired students to recognise their potential as innovators, entrepreneurs and responsible citizens, reinforcing the message that the youth are not only the future but also an important force in the present development of the nation.
