SRINAGAR, Aug 15: Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, State Secretary of the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) for Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, today hoisted the Indian National Tricolour at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar on the occasion of Independence Day.
The flag-hoisting ceremony witnessed the enthusiastic participation of BTSM leaders, district representatives, office-bearers and workers from various districts of the Kashmir Valley. The participants expressed their commitment to the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the nation and paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices secured India’s independence.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday said that hoisting the National Flag at Lal Chowk carries a special significance and reflects the spirit of national unity, peace and patriotism. He emphasised that the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch would continue working to strengthen national awareness, promote social harmony and contribute to the development and progress of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
He further said that the organisation is expanding its outreach across the region and would continue to engage youth and citizens in programmes aimed at fostering patriotism, cultural awareness and national integration.
Dr Vivek Sharma, State President of BTSM, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, said, “The Tricolour at Lal Chowk symbolises the strength of India’s unity and the spirit of patriotism. We are committed to strengthening national consciousness among the youth and working for peace, development and harmony across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.”
The programme concluded with patriotic slogans and reaffirmation of the participants’ resolve to uphold the values of unity, integrity and national service. BTSM leaders also called upon the youth to contribute actively to nation-building while preserving the region’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
