BSNL reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable, secure, affordable and inclusive digital connectivity across the country, including remote and geographically challenging areas. Guided by the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Digital India, the company said it is working towards building a resilient and future-ready telecommunications network powered by indigenous technologies and customer-centric innovations.

The company said it has significantly strengthened its mobile network in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. BSNL has ordered more than 602 additional 4G BTS (Base Transceiver Stations) for the two Union Territories, in addition to the earlier planned deployment of 2,247 sites, including 1,843 in J&K and 404 in Ladakh. Of these, 1,757 4G BTS in J&K and 343 in Ladakh have already been commissioned, expanding the network across towns, villages and remote areas. BSNL said the network has also been comprehensively optimised to provide improved coverage, faster data speeds, better call performance and enhanced overall customer experience on an indigenous, 5G-upgradable technology platform.

As part of its Independence Day celebrations, BSNL announced the Re. 1 Freedom 2.0 Offer for new customers. Under the offer, customers can experience BSNL’s mobile network for just Re. 1 and receive 1 GB data per day, 100 SMS per day, unlimited voice calls and 24 days of validity. The initiative is aimed at making BSNL services more affordable and encouraging new customers to experience its network.

BSNL has also introduced the Fibre Freedom Plan at a special launch price of RS 1,111 per month. The plan provides internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps, 5,000 GB monthly data and access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms. The company said the plan is designed to offer customers a combination of high-speed broadband and digital entertainment through a single connection.

The telecom company has also revamped its BSNL Selfcare New mobile application for Android and iOS users. The redesigned app provides customers with a single platform for prepaid recharge, postpaid and landline bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management, payment history, Fibre booking requests, AI chatbot support, voice search and multiple-account management. Customers can also access BSNL Entertainment TV through the application.

Another major initiative is BSNL Free Entertainment TV, powered by Tango TV. BSNL mobile subscribers can access around 500 live television channels free of cost through the new Selfcare app. The service also provides access to on-demand entertainment content, enabling subscribers to enjoy digital entertainment conveniently through their mobile devices.

BSNL also highlighted its Global Satellite Phone Service (GSPS), which uses satellite connectivity to provide voice communication in locations where conventional terrestrial mobile networks may not be available. The service is particularly useful in remote and geographically challenging areas and further strengthens BSNL’s role in providing communication services across diverse terrains.

As another Independence Day special, BSNL announced an additional 47 days of validity on its ₹2,399 annual prepaid plan. With the offer, the validity of the yearly plan will increase from 365 days to 412 days, while customers will continue to receive the existing benefits of the plan.

BSNL has also partnered with Polycab to strengthen indigenous telecom manufacturing under the Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The partnership involves Polycab’s Electronic Manufacturing Services facility for the assembly and manufacturing of telecom and networking equipment, including cameras, ONTs and routers. Through a Hardware-as-a-Service model, the collaboration is aimed at supporting scalable and cost-effective infrastructure while strengthening domestic manufacturing and self-reliance in India’s telecom sector.

BSNL said these initiatives reaffirm its commitment to delivering affordable, secure, reliable and innovative digital solutions while contributing to the vision of a digitally empowered India. On the 80th Independence Day, the company reiterated its resolve to connect people, empower communities and promote inclusive growth through reliable and future-ready telecommunications services.
