JAMMU, Aug 8: With the objective of making quality higher education more accessible and affordable for students of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, the Baba Farid Group of Institutions (BFGI), Bathinda, will organise a Scholarship-cum-Admission Fair and Career Counselling Programme on August 9, 2026, at Government Polytechnic College, opposite Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk, Jammu.
The fair will be held from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is aimed at Class XII and diploma students seeking admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by Dr. Rajinder Singh Dhanoa, Assistant Director, BFGI, and Er. Amandeep Singh, Dean Admissions, BFGI.
Addressing the media, Dr. Dhanoa said BFGI has remained associated with the educational aspirations of students from Jammu & Kashmir and has provided higher education opportunities to thousands of students from the region. He emphasised that financial limitations should not prevent deserving students from pursuing higher education and building successful careers.
Dr. Dhanoa stated that BFGI is NAAC A+ accredited and has UGC 2(f) status, offering more than 60 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Engineering, Pharmacy, Management, Computer Applications, Agriculture, Commerce, Humanities, Paramedical Sciences, Hotel Management and other emerging disciplines. The institution also offers residential facilities, industry-oriented skill development, career guidance, placement assistance and academic mentoring.
“Our objective is to ensure that financial constraints do not become a barrier between a deserving student and quality higher education. This fair will provide students with practical alternatives, scholarship opportunities and professional guidance under one roof,” Dr. Dhanoa said.
He added that the initiative is particularly beneficial for students who may not have secured admission through AICTE-PMSSS, missed other admission opportunities or could not obtain admission in their preferred course or institution. Eligible students can avail themselves of scholarships of up to 100 per cent of tuition fees, subject to the applicable scholarship policy and eligibility criteria.
Er. Amandeep Singh appealed to students and parents from J&K and Ladakh to participate in the fair and make informed decisions regarding higher education. He highlighted several student-centric initiatives for the 2026–27 academic session, including the J&K Excellence Scholarship Policy, J&K & Ladakh Youth Empowerment Scheme, BFGI SET Scholarship Scheme, Girls’ Scholarship & Empowerment Scheme, Sports & Merit Scholarships, Earn While Learn Programme, ST Scholarship Support Initiative and AICTE-PMSSS Admission Guidance & Support.
The organisers said students and parents attending the fair will have access to career counselling, course-selection guidance, scholarship assistance and on-the-spot admission support. They urged students who have completed Class XII or a diploma to make use of the opportunity and explore diverse academic and career pathways.
