DARHAL, Aug 3: Government Degree College (GDC) Darhal formally commenced its Independence Day celebrations with a spirited National Anthem Singing Competition held on Monday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and reflected a strong sense of patriotism and national pride on the college campus.
The programme was graced by the Principal of the college, Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza, who appreciated the students for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to actively take part in the series of events planned as part of the Independence Day celebrations. He emphasized the importance of such activities in promoting unity, discipline, and love for the nation among the youth.
The competition was coordinated by Dr. Ghulam Abass, IQAC Coordinator and Convenor of the Literature and Cultural Committee, along with Prof. Taseem, Head of the Department of Geography. Their efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme and inspired students to showcase their talent while paying tribute to the nation through music.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Mohd Akhlaq, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. Anzar Ahmed, Dr. Shakoor, Altaf Hussain, and Jameel Ahmed, who encouraged the participants and appreciated their performances.
A large number of students participated in the competition, singing the National Anthem with enthusiasm and devotion. The performances created a patriotic atmosphere across the campus, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by the country’s freedom fighters and reinforcing the values of unity and national integrity.
The National Anthem Singing Competition marked the beginning of a week-long series of Independence Day celebrations being organized by the college from August 1 to August 8. As part of the celebrations, a Painting Competition will also be held on August 3, providing students with an opportunity to express their love for the nation through art. An Essay Competition is scheduled for August 5, where participants will write on themes related to Independence Day and its significance. The celebrations will conclude with a Quiz Competition on August 7, aimed at testing students’ knowledge of India’s history, freedom struggle, and the importance of Independence Day.
The college administration has encouraged all students to participate wholeheartedly in these activities, which are designed to nurture creativity, patriotism, and a spirit of togetherness while making the Independence Day celebrations meaningful and memorable.
