RAJOURI, May 18: The Indian Army organised an awareness lecture at Haribudha to educate local residents about the prevention and management of hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure. The lecture highlighted the causes, risks and preventive measures associated with hypertension, often referred to as the “Silent Killer.” Villagers, youth and ex-servicemen actively participated in the informative sessions conducted by Army representatives.
Participants were sensitised about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle through balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, stress management, reduced salt intake and routine health monitoring.
The programme also underscored the significance of early detection and timely medical consultation to prevent serious complications such as heart disease and stroke.
World Hypertension Day, observed globally on 17 May, aims to raise awareness and encourage preventive healthcare practices.
The 2026 theme, “Controlling Hypertension Together Check Your Blood Pressure Regularly, Defeat the Silent Killer,” emphasises collective action in combating high blood pressure. The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to community outreach, public welfare and promoting health awareness in remote areas.
