JAMMU, Jul 30: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Jammu has filed a charge-sheet against two accused in connection with a bank loan fraud involving Rs 7.20 lakh, allegedly obtained through forged documents under the State Bank of India’s Tatkal Tractor Loan Scheme.

The chargesheet has been presented before the Court of the City Judge, Jammu, in FIR No. 05/2024, registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B RPC at Police Station Crime Branch EOW, Jammu.

The case originated from a written complaint filed by Sushil Kumar, Branch Manager of the State Bank of India, Agriculture Development Branch, Jammu.

The complaint alleged that Abdul Hamid had secured a tractor loan of Rs 7.20 lakh for purchasing a tractor from M/s K.K. Motors, owned by Kulbir Singh.

Following the completion of loan formalities, the sanctioned amount was transferred through NEFT to the dealer’s account. However, despite receiving the payment, the dealer allegedly failed to deliver the tractor to the borrower, resulting in wrongful loss to the bank and misuse of public funds.

During investigation, Crime Branch found that the accused had fraudulently obtained the loan by submitting fake and forged revenue documents. The probe further revealed that the loan amount was diverted to the account of M/s K.K. Motors, while the financed tractor was never supplied to the borrower.

A Crime Branch official stated, “The investigation, backed by documentary evidence, witness statements, financial records and other corroborative material, established the involvement of the accused in the fraudulent transaction. Accordingly, a chargesheet has been filed before the competent court for judicial determination.”

The official further appealed to the public to remain vigilant against economic frauds and promptly report such incidents to the SSP, Crime Branch EOW, Jammu. Victims of economic frauds may also submit their complaints via email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.inor contact on telephone No. 0191-2578901.
