JAMMU, Jul 27: A Free Liver Outpatient Department (OPD) camp was successfully organised at Goel Centre, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, by Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta, MBBS, MS, M.Ch., Assistant Professor and Liver Transplant Specialist from Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur. The initiative was aimed at providing specialised liver care and creating awareness about the prevention and early detection of liver diseases.
The OPD witnessed an overwhelming response, with a large number of patients from Jammu and nearby areas availing themselves of expert consultations for various liver-related ailments. The camp focused on promoting early diagnosis, timely treatment, and increased public awareness regarding liver health.
During the consultation camp, Dr. Gupta examined and counselled patients suffering from viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, liver cirrhosis, chronic liver disease, liver failure, alcoholic liver disease, liver cancer, autoimmune liver disorders, and those requiring pre- and post-liver transplant management. Patients received personalised medical advice, treatment plans, dietary recommendations, and guidance on lifestyle modifications essential for maintaining a healthy liver.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anil Kumar Gupta said that liver diseases often progress silently and remain undetected until they reach an advanced stage. He emphasised the importance of regular health check-ups, adopting a healthy lifestyle, avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, and seeking timely medical consultation to prevent irreversible liver damage. He noted that early diagnosis and appropriate treatment can significantly improve patient outcomes and reduce the need for complex medical interventions, including liver transplantation.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the people of Jammu for their enthusiastic participation and overwhelming response to the initiative. They reiterated their commitment to bringing super-speciality healthcare services closer to the community through regular outreach programmes, enabling patients to benefit from expert consultations without travelling long distances.
They also highlighted that such health camps play an important role in spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, encouraging early screening, and helping people understand the importance of maintaining liver health through proper nutrition, regular exercise, and timely medical care.
