NC Govt focused on inclusive growth of marginalized and underprivileged communities: Ajeet Bhagat

KISHTWAR, Jul 24: Senior National Conference leader and Chenab Valley spokesperson Ajeet Bhagat on Friday said the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference remains committed to the upliftment of socially and economically disadvantaged sections of society and that the present government is working towards inclusive and people-centric development.

Addressing the media, Bhagat said the National Conference has always stood with the marginalized and underprivileged. “The National Conference has always stood for the voiceless and the marginalized. Our founding manifesto was not merely a document but a promise to ensure dignity, justice and equal opportunity for all,” he said.

Highlighting the party’s governance record, Bhagat stated that successive National Conference governments had introduced landmark initiatives aimed at improving the lives of weaker sections. “Successive National Conference governments have worked tirelessly to uplift the last person in the queue—be it through land reforms, social welfare measures or inclusive development policies that transformed lives across Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Criticising previous BJP-backed governments, Bhagat alleged that their policies disrupted the progress achieved over the years and adversely affected vulnerable communities. He claimed that insensitive governance had pushed marginalized sections further to the sidelines and reversed several gains made in the social and economic sectors.

Expressing confidence in the present administration, Bhagat said the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to restoring the pro-people governance model associated with the National Conference.

“Under the dynamic leadership of Omar Abdullah, the government is once again focused on inclusive growth, equitable development and grassroots empowerment. Every decision is being guided by the principle that no section of society should feel left out,” he said.

Bhagat further asserted that the government is strengthening the National Conference’s legacy of people-centric governance by promoting compassion, secularism and social justice. “We are not just revisiting our legacy—we are strengthening it. The ongoing efforts of the present government reflect the National Conference’s best traditions of compassion, secularism and people-centric governance. Our aim is to rebuild public trust and ensure that governance reaches every doorstep with fairness and sensitivity,” he added.
