JAMMU, Jul 21: Tarun Sharma, Actor, Director, President of Nat Manch, and noted social, sports, cultural, and political activist, has appealed to the concerned authorities to ensure justice and equal opportunities for the sportspersons of Jammu.
Highlighting the concerns of athletes from the region, Sharma said Jammu has consistently produced talented players who have excelled at the Union Territory and national levels, bringing pride to the region. Despite their achievements, many deserving sportspersons continue to face challenges related to recognition, transparent selection, sports infrastructure, financial assistance, and adequate training facilities.
He emphasized that every athlete should receive equal treatment and fair opportunities, irrespective of their background. According to Sharma, transparent selection processes and improved access to quality coaching and infrastructure are essential for nurturing sporting talent and encouraging greater youth participation in sports.
“Sports play a vital role in shaping disciplined, confident, and healthy youth. It is the responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that deserving athletes are not deprived of opportunities due to unfair practices or lack of support,” Sharma said.
He urged the Government, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, and all concerned authorities to address the genuine grievances of sportspersons at the earliest and establish a fair, transparent, and merit-based system that rewards talent and hard work.
Sharma further stated that investment in sports is an investment in the future of the country’s youth and called for enhanced support to enable athletes to compete successfully at national and international levels.
“The sportspersons of Jammu deserve justice, respect, and equal opportunities. Their talent should be nurtured and rewarded through transparency and fairness,” he added.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of athletes, Tarun Sharma expressed hope that the authorities would take prompt steps to strengthen the sporting ecosystem in Jammu and provide deserving players with the recognition, facilities, and encouragement they rightfully deserve.
