JAMMU, Jul 17: Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party District President Jammu Urban Abhay Bakaya on Friday chaired a meeting of the District team and heads of various party wings to review the prevailing public issues and discuss the party’s future organisational programmes.
The meeting witnessed detailed deliberations on the growing public dissatisfaction over what the party termed the National Conference (NC) government’s failure to fulfil its electoral promises where Provincial Vice President Arun Chibber was special Invitee.
Addressing the meeting, Abhay Bakaya strongly criticised the NC-led government for what he described as its “complete failure to deliver on the commitments made to the people during the Assembly elections.”
He said that despite nearly two years in office, the government has failed to translate its promises into action, leaving the people disappointed and burdened with unfulfilled expectations.
Bakaya said that during the election campaign, the NC had made several tall promises, including 200 units of free electricity, free LPG cylinders, regularisation and welfare of daily wagers, employment opportunities for youth, and improved public services, but none of these assurances have materialised on the ground.
Questioning the government’s performance, Bakaya asked, “Where are the 200 units of free electricity? Where are the free gas cylinders? What has happened to the promises made to daily wagers? Where are the jobs for the unemployed youth?” He said that instead of addressing these genuine concerns, the government has been indulging in political theatrics to divert public attention from its failures.
Arun Chibber stated that people across Jammu are still struggling for basic amenities, including regular drinking water supply, uninterrupted electricity, better roads, and improved civic infrastructure. “The government cannot escape accountability by making excuses while the common people continue to suffer every day,” he said.
Bakaya urged the NC government to stop making hollow claims and focus on delivering the promises that formed the basis of its electoral mandate. He said that governance must be measured by performance and public welfare, not by publicity.
Calling upon party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, Bakaya directed all district office bearers and wing heads to intensify public outreach by taking the policies, programmes, and vision of Apni Party to every ward of Jammu Urban. He instructed them to organise regular corner meetings, interact with local residents, identify public grievances, and ensure that the voice of the people is effectively raised before the concerned authorities.
He said that Apni Party remains committed to constructive politics and will continue to stand with the people on every issue affecting their daily lives.
Prominent leaders who also addressed the meeting included Provincial President Women Wing Pavneet Kour, Provincial Media Secretary Vaibhav Mattoo and Provincial Secretary Mohd. Asif and others who echoed the concerns over the government’s failure to fulfil its commitments and called upon party workers to remain connected with the public and actively highlight people’s issues. All those who were present in the meeting were G.L. Pandita General Secretary Jammu District, Vijay Prakash Gurtoo General Secretary Jammu District, Devansh Sharma Media Secretary Jammu, Yash Choudhary Organising Secretary, Ritu Pandita Women President Jammu, Dalbir Singh District President Minority, Chand Ji Bhat District President KP Wing, Inderpal Singh District President Minority (Rural), Harjeet Singh and Vishal Jotshi Executive Members & others.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to further strengthen the party’s grassroots network and intensify public engagement across all wards of Jammu Urban.
