SRINAGAR, Jul 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council on Sunday rejected allegations made by para archer Rakesh Kumar regarding his alleged exclusion from recruitment under S.O.-12 of 2022, stating that he had never applied for the advertised posts and, therefore, was not eligible for consideration.

In a statement, the Sports Council spokesperson said official records show that Kumar did not submit an application in response to the recruitment notification. Consequently, his candidature was never examined by the Scrutiny Committee or the Selection Committee.

The Council said the recruitment process was conducted transparently and in accordance with the rules. It noted that the General Merit List was published on July 19, 2024, inviting objections for 15 days, but Kumar did not raise any grievance during that period.

According to the statement, Kumar submitted a representation only after the Provisional Selection List was issued on February 11, 2026, seeking inclusion despite not having applied under the notification. The Council maintained that no candidate can be considered for appointment without submitting a valid application within the prescribed timeframe.

Describing the allegations of exclusion as “factually incorrect,” the Sports Council said the issue was one of non-participation, not exclusion, and reiterated that the recruitment was conducted strictly under the provisions of S.O.-12 of 2022.

While acknowledging the achievements of sportspersons, the Council urged stakeholders to rely on official communications and warned that it reserves the right to initiate legal action against anyone found deliberately spreading false or misleading information about the recruitment process.
