Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj urges devotees to pursue self-realisation through spiritual awakening

JAMMU, Jul 12: Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj of Sahib Bandgi addressed a large congregation at Ranjri, Jammu, on Sunday, delivering a detailed spiritual discourse on self-realisation, the nature of consciousness, and the journey of the soul beyond the physical body.

Speaking to devotees, the spiritual leader said that the human body is temporary and full of limitations, while the soul remains eternal. He stressed that the highest form of knowledge is self-knowledge, adding that ignorance is the root cause of human suffering. Referring to the Ramayana, he said there is no wisdom greater than understanding one’s true self.

Explaining the different states of human existence, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj described the gross body as the waking state, where human beings remain influenced by the senses and worldly attachments. He said the subtle body is experienced during sleep and dreams, where people continue to undergo joy, fear and sorrow despite being physically inactive.

The spiritual master observed that sleep is a state of deep ignorance, noting that people spend nearly one-third of their lives asleep without reflecting on its true nature. He explained that dreams appear real while they last, just as the waking world appears real until higher spiritual awareness is attained.

Elaborating further, he spoke about the Mahakarana (Great Causal State), describing it as an even deeper state of unconsciousness in which the soul continues its journey. He also discussed the state of knowledge (Samadhi), where one overcomes sleep and gains control over thoughts and mental impulses.

The discourse also covered the higher spiritual stages of Kaivalya, Turiya, and Turiyatit, where, according to the Sadguru, the mind gradually becomes silent, breathing slows naturally, and spiritual awareness deepens. He said that conserving inner energy leads to greater control over the mind and a higher state of consciousness.

Concluding his sermon, Sadguru Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj stated that even beyond the Turiyatit state lies the supreme realm of the Saints, where one exists solely as the pure Soul, free from the limitations of the mind and body. He urged devotees to seek inner awakening through spiritual practice and self-realisation, describing it as the ultimate purpose of human life.
