LEH, Feb 8: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur was called upon by various delegations, here on Monday.
Mohsin Ali, Councilor Chiktan in a representation on behalf of the people of Chiktan and Shaker sub division made a request to the Lt. Governor to consider sanction of a government Degree College in Hagniss Sub Division, up-gradation of sub-centre Hagniss and Kukshow to the level of NTPHC, up-gradation of community health centre Chiktan to Sub District Hospital, construction of ice-hockey rink at Kukshow, renovation of Chiktan Khar and other issues of road construction, irrigation, mobile tower installation was highlighted by the Councillor.
A delegation of Panchayat Coordination Committee Kargil, comprising Sarpanch Pashkum, Issa Ali Shah; Sarpanch Saliskote, Mohd Abbas Mir and Panch Village Pacharik (Kuksho), Sonam Joldan called upon the Lt. Governor and expressed gratitude for giving the Sarpanches of Ladakh an opportunity to learn, explore and interact through recent exposure training in Uttarakhand.
They said that it will greatly benefit them in execution of new projects in future.
The delegation also made a representation highlighting some of their issues including empowerment of Panchayat Institution, to retain the funds of UT Ladakh as non-lapsable, to ensure substitute schemes in place of 14th FC and Back to Village program that was repealed after bifurcation of the erstwhile state of J&K, increase in the honorarium of the PRIs, etc.
Naib Sarpanch Shimsha, Drass apprised the Lt. Governor about high-quality Kala Jeera and Juniper trees grown in their village and requested for a scheme to promote the growth of Black Cumin (Kala Jeera) at commercial scale and preservation of Juniper trees.
In a representation, he also made a request to install Jio mobile tower, lift irrigation scheme, ice-hockey rink and library with a heating facility in the newly constructed Panchayat Ghar in Shimsha village.
Rinchen Lamo, President Mahila Morcha, BJP, along with two members called upon the Lt. Governor and requested for a provision of institution facility/ rehabilitation centre for the mentally disabled women and abandoned children in Ladakh and women shelter facility for the victims of domestic violence in Kargil and Leh.
Sonam Stobdan, Social Activist, Tiger, Nubra called upon the Lt. Governor and requested for his kind intervention in getting district status for Nubra, in ensuring the engagement of local labourers by 14 Corps and HIMANK, in bringing back the Ladakhi employees of PDD posted in UT of J&K, to improve mobile internet connection in Nubra, requested for allocation of fund for completion of pending works of Tiger village and up-gradation of Middle School Tiger.
A delegation of Ladakh Researchers Scholars Forum submitted a memorandum to the Lt. Governor highlighting their request for regular appointment to academic posts in favour of Ladakhi candidates, for remuneration to guest faculty with Adhoc appointment as per UGC guidelines, introduction of new courses in the University of Ladakh and constituent colleges including International Studies, Buddhist Studies, Molecular Biology, Language courses and Agriculture Economics.
LG Mathur gave a patient hearing to all their grievances and demands. He said that the matters will be taken up with concerned authorities for due consideration.
