UDA welcomes revocation of SRO 202, demands 50000 jobs for J&K youth

JAMMU, Jun 16: United Democratic Alliance (UDA) welcomed the government decision on revocation of recruitment policy under SRO 202, terming it as the victory of the stakeholders. In a statement issued heretoday, Rajiv Mahajan, Spokesperson and Media In-charge, said that the governmenthas finally accepted that the SRO brought about by the previous PDP-BJP governmentwas totally unjust and exploitative of the rights of youth but it took fiveyears to the BJP to acknowledge it. However it would not have happened withoutpublic pressure as the government just two weeks ago had brought about thisprovision again in the new recruitment rules and incorporated it, which clearlydemonstrated that power of youth and united opposition has great strength, hesaid.“The nasty SRO 202 haddampened the spirits of the youth who were forced to work on paltry wagesdespite being highly qualified,” he said.Mahajan also criticized thepolicies of the central government led by BJP and the previous regime of BJP in J&Kwhich has miserably failed to fulfill the demands of youths. “BJP has failed toprovide two crore jobs per year which has been promised by the Prime MinisterNarendra Modi himself with the unemployed youth but it is unfortunate to saythat BJP in return implemented policies like SRO 202 which has furtheralienated the youths of J&K, Mahajan added.Alleging brazen disregard forthe concerns of the educated unemployed and underemployed youth of J&K byBJP, Mahajan regretted that not a single post had been advertised for fillingup in the new UT after the abrogation of Article 370.Mahajan said that the BJP led governmenthad announced to create 50,000 posts immediately with absorption of theeducated youth on a fast track basis. He regretted that not only were the youthcheated in the name of employment package post Article 370 abrogation but theexisting vacancies were also allowed to remain unfilled.Mahajan appealed to the LtGovernor GC Murmu to scrap SRO-202 completely and create 50,000 vacanciesinstead of 10,000 jobs as the youth of J&K has already suffereddue to the hollow policies of the successive governments.Pertinent to mention here thatthe former Governor of J&K Satya Pal Malik had promised to create 50000 governmentjobs for the people of the region.
