Two arrested for allegedly transporting liquor amid lockdown

JAMMU, Apr 28: Two men were arrested in Domana area on Tuesday for allegedly transporting liquor in a car amid the lockdown, SDPO Domana Kosheen Koul said.
The accused have been identified as Surjeet Singh alias Kali, and Shakti Singh, both residents of Gho Manhasan, Jammu, he told reporters.
“During patrolling Domana police inspected one Car bearing registration number JKO2CB/4975 at Chouhna Chowk of sector Domana and apprehended two persons and recovered 131 Whiskey Bottles (98 Ltrs 250 NIL) from their possession,” he said adding that a Case FIR No. 100/2020 U/S 188/269/ 2170/3411PC, 48-al Excise Act has been registered at Domana police station.
Moreover, SDPO said, the accused disclosed that the said liquor was purchased from one person namely Sourav Gupta, resident of Janipur.
“The accused person namely Surjeet Singh Kali is an notorious illegal alcohol supplier in the Sub Division Domana against whome two FIRs already stands registered at Domana police station” he said adding that the accused had been supplying illegal liquor during the lockdown period in the area of Pounichak, Gho Manhasan, Sandawan and Gajansoo.
“This is measure set back to the illegal trade of liquor operating in the Sub Division Domana,” he said.
