JAMMU, Aug 28: Shri Ram Sena has raised serious concern over the conversion of residential plots into commercial establishments in the Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat areas of Jammu City, terming it as a grave violation of building norms.
In a statement issued today, Rajiv Mahajan, President Shri Ram Sena, J&K, expressed dismay at the lack of action from the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and J&K Housing Board in addressing this issue. He stated, “The JMC, JDA and J&K Housing Board, which are meant to preserve the integrity of our city’s infrastructure, have unfortunately become dens of corruption. Their indifference towards the directives laid down by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, contradicts the ongoing efforts to eradicate corruption in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Mahajan further apprised Lieutenant Governor Sinha of the current state of affairs, highlighting that numerous residential plots have been unlawfully converted into commercial plots. Such conversions not only violate building regulations but also hamper government’s revenue collection.
Mahajan emphasized the need for immediate intervention from the Lieutenant Governor’s office, stating, “We urge Lieutenant Governor Sinha to take cognizance of this matter and instruct the JDA, JMC and J&K Housing Board to provide a detailed report on the rampant commercial activities taking place in residential areas of Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat.”
Mahajan sought strict action against the officials involved in the corrupt practices. He called upon all residents of Jammu City to join hands in this fight against corruption and unauthorized conversions of residential plots. Together, we can create an environment where ethical practices prevail, and the best interests of the people are prioritized, he added.
