Srinagar-Jammu highway shut for vehicular movement, restoration work underway

SRINAGAR, Apr 20 (Agencies): After being restored for a short spell, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway has been kept shut once again after rocks and mudslides hit the highway at several places in Ramban district on Saturday.

An official said due to rockslides and mudslide at Dalwas, Mehad, Gangroo and Kishtwari Pather the traffic movement was closed temporarily. He also said that men and machinery have been pressed into service to clear the road as soon as possible.

The official advised commuters not to undertake journey on the highway till the road is fully restored.

 “Restoration work is going on at Dalwas, Mehad, Gangroo and Kishtwari Pather on NH-44. People are advised not to undertake journey till the road is fully restored,” he added.
