Shivani Charak to represent India in upcoming Asian Climbing Championship
JAMMU, Sep 29: Shivani Charak, golden sport climber of J&K, has been selected by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi, the apex body for mountaineering and sport climbing in India, for representing the country in the upcoming Asian Climbing Championship as well as World Cup (Olympic Format). Whereas Asian Climbing Championship is going to be held at Seoul in Korea from 10th to 16th October, the World cup is slated to be held at Marioka, Japan from 18th to 23rd October, 2022.
Shivani Charak, the top ranked women climber of India along with Anisha Verma of East Zone has been selected to participate in both the Asian Climbing Championship as well as World Cup, two other women climbers Sania Farooq of West Zone and Pratiksha Arun of South Zone shall compete in Asian Climbing Championship only.
It is pertinent to mention here that 21 years old Shivani Charak is an incredible sport climber of India who has won a Bronze medal at the Asian Youth Championship besides a staggering 26 medals including 11 Gold & 12 Silver medals at the National level.
Currently, Shivani is one of the most prominent sport persons of India who recently featured in “Super Star Singer 2022” telecast on Sony TV along with legendry Mithali Raj and Tapsi Pannu, a famous Indian Actress. She has also featured in “OMG ! Yeh Mera India’ programme telecast on History/ TV 18. She also has the distinction of being interviewed by the news platform of the International Olympic Committee where she shared her achievements with the Olympic Movement.
It may also be mentioned here that participation of Shivani in the Asian Climbing Championship and World Cup competitions is a pre-Olympic preparation and good performance in these competitions shall facilitate Shivani’s selection for the Asian Games to be held in China next year.
Meanwhile, Tawi Trekkers J&K, parent club of Shivani Charak, led by its Chairman Anil Goswami, former Union Home Secretary, gave an emotional send off to Shivani and wished her good luck for the upcoming international competitions in an impressive function organized at Press Club of Jammu. Prominent among others present on the occasion included Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Co- Chairman; Rahul Sharma, Patron; Ram Khajuria, President; Mridhu Padha, Vice President; Shawetica Khajuria, General Secretary; Sakshi Magotra, Joint Secretary, Senior members Sumit Khajuria, Narinder Singh and Vishali Sharma besides Vivek Chauhan, Principal Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School; Prof. Suman Lata, Director Physical Educational, GCW, Parade, Jammu, international climber Shilpa Charak and other young members.
