Prominent citizens from Jammu join UDA

JAMMU, Jul 3: A large number of prominent citizens of Jammu on Friday joined UnitedDemocratic Alliance (UDA) in a programme held at New Rehari Office. They were welcomed into the party fold by UDA ConvenerMunish Sahani, (Retd) IGP Sudhir Dogra General Secretary, Rajiv MahajanSpokesperson and Media In-charge, Co-Convenors (Retd) Col S.S Pathania, KrishanManhas, Kulbir Singh Slathia, Rajinder Gupta and Gajan Singh Khajuria. Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Mahajan, Spokesperson,said that UDA with each passing day garnered support as more and more peopleare joining it as they have realized that their interests, the interests ofthe UT and that of the nation can only be safeguarded by UDA. “The UDA was formed with an aim to defeat the pro-Pakand anti-national forces who are hell bent upon to destroy the century oldcommunal harmony, brotherhood, peace and prosperity of J&K and hence moreand more prominent people are joining the Alliance,” Mahajan said. Prominent among those who joined UDA included PremSharma, Rakesh Badyal, Jaswinder Singh (Kuku) International Hockey Player, Dr.Karan Gupta, Sanjay Jandyal and Sanjeev Sharma.All the members made an appeal to the Prime Ministerand the Union Home Minister of India to eschew the dangerous idea of conductingdelimitation on the basis of the 2011 fraudulent census.“Conducting delimitation of Assembly/ Parliamentary constituenciesin Jammu & Kashmir on the basis of census 2011 is the surest way to onceagain sell out Jammu and keep it hostage to fundamentalist Kashmiri,” theysaid.This was what Spokesperson of the UDA Jammu, RajivMahajan, said on July 3, 2020, while demanding cancellation of the recentlyissued notification providing for the constitution of a Delimitation Commissiontasked to delimit constituencies on the basis of 2011 census. Mahajan urged the BJP Government to wait for theresults of 2021 census operations.“The process for the 2021 census in Jammu &Kashmir is scheduled to be initiated in April 2020. Not just UDA Jammu, evenCongress leader and grandson of Maharaja Hari Singh, Vikramaditya Singh (ExMLC), Jammu & Kashmir Panthers Party Chief and former minister Harsh DevSingh and Ikkjut Chairman Advt. Ankur Sharma also favoured delimitation of theAssembly Constituencies on the basis of the 2021 census. The demand as putforth by UDA Jammu is as fair as it deserves immediate consideration, he added.
