Police, Army recover heroin from Mendhar

JAMMU, Mar 5 (Agencies): A joint teams of security forces recovered contraband of heroin in Mendhar area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
SSP Poonch, Ramesh Angral here said that in a successfully conducted operation by the Army and police, a consignment of Heroin like substance containing around 840 grams narcotics has been recovered from Mendhar town.
Angral said that on a specific input, a team of police in Mendhar alongwith Army’s 37 RR and NCCIU launched a joint operation in Dharana area of Mendhar.
“During search, a packet was found kept hidden which was put to frisking and found having around 840 grams of Heroin like substance,” said the SSP.
He added that police team which was part of operation was headed by SDPO Mendhar Zaheer Abbas Jafri with a case under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation is going on to identify the source of consignment and to nab the accused.
