SRINAGAR, Nov 27 (Agencies): The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has established a permanent hub for the National Security Guard (NSG) in Jammu City to ensure rapid response in the event of a major militant attack.
In addition, a comprehensive security plan has been developed for high-rise buildings, sensitive security installations, and public spaces within the city and its surrounding areas, following a detailed security audit.
Quoting officials, Agency reported that the NSG’s special unit is now permanently stationed in Jammu City, ready to take immediate action in the event of a terrorist threat.
The creation of this NSG hub comes after a series of attacks targeting security forces in various districts of the Jammu region, coupled with intelligence suggesting potential threats to the city.
While officials declined to disclose the exact number of NSG personnel for operational security reasons, they emphasized that the force is adequately sized to address any terror threat. “Previously, if an NSG intervention was needed to neutralize terrorists, commandos had to be airlifted from New Delhi or Chandigarh, which was time-consuming. Now, with the NSG stationed in the city, a rapid response is assured,” they explained.
