JAMMU, Mar 2: Shri Ram Sena, Jammu & Kasshmir, today urged the state government headed by Lt. Governor G.C.Murmu to regulate the functioning of Shrines and Temples in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
There is need to regulate the functioning of most of the temples and shrines of hindus across the union territory as they are mismanaged either by individuals or self styled committees /trusts, a statement issued by Shri Ram sena president Rajiv Mahajan said here.
The best course for regulating such individual religious places would be to bring an ordinance for “management and regulation of Shrines and Temples in J&K Union Territory”, he said, adding in absence of elected assembly the governor is empowered to bring such an ordinance so that their functioning is properly streamlined.
Mahajan alleged that, as per reports, hundreds of temples/Shrines and the properties attached to them were being mismanaged either by individuals or self styled committees /trusts, thereby hurting the sentiments of hindu community. There are also reports that some people, with political connections, had either taken over or grabbed the authority of such religious places in Jammu and Kashmir and subsequently sold out the properties attached with such places.
We have already Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Amarnath Shine Board and other boards regulating the shrines of muslims and Sikhs in J&K, he said and added therefore there should be no difficulty for the current dispensation in the union territory to bring these individual religious
places under one banner for better governance and management.
Ram Sena Chief accused the former governments in the state of J&K for not taking concrete steps for better management of hindu shrines and expressed hope that the present government would take early steps for better consolidation of shrines and temples in the union territory.
