LG Mathur discusses functioning of University of Ladakh

LEH, May 18: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, R.K Mathur chaired a meeting to discuss the annual Capex budget and other related issues of the University of Ladakh at Raj Niwas.
Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education, Ladakh Rigzin Samphel, Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Chewang Phuntsog, Registrar UoL Imtiaz Kacho and Controller Examination/ Dean Academics Affairs, Deskyong Namgyal attended the meeting.
The Vice-Chancellor apprised the Lt. Governor about the projects conceived under the sanctioned budget and also highlighted the requirement of additional funds to take some more projects.
The revenue plan of six colleges in Ladakh, land allotment for administrative headquarter in Kargil, creation of posts for UoL and colleges of Khaltsi and Drass, building construction plans and academic activities were discussed in detail.
The possibility of the functionality of Ladakh University either as cluster university system or collegiate university system was also raised during the meeting.
The Lt. Governor exhorted on timely execution of the projects. He said that funds will not be a problem and UT Administration shall ensure every support for the effective functioning of University of Ladakh and colleges in Ladakh.
