J&K Govt announces half-day public holiday in connection with consecration of Ram Temple

JAMMU, Jan 21 (Agencies): Jammu and Kashmir government on Sunday ordered a half-day public holiday on January 22 in connection with the consecration of the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.

In this regard, a notification was issued by the General Administration Department.

“In continuation of Government Order No. 1582-JK (GAD) of 2023 dated 11.12.2023 and Government Order No. 1583-JK (GAD) of 2023 dated 11.12.2023, it is hereby ordered that a half-day public holiday (till 02:30 pm) will be observed on January 22, 2024, in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the order reads.

On the occasion of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Pran Pratishthapana celebration on January 22, prayers for peace, prosperity, and national harmony will be held at Shankaracharya Hill in Srinagar at 12:30 p.m. and Lal Chowk at 8 p.m. The programme will be followed by “Langar” at Shankaracharya Hill.
