JAMMU, Jun 2: The police have recovered stolen vehicles by busting a gang of inter-state vehicle lifters here on Tuesday by arresting three persons.
The SP North, P.D Nitya, while briefing the media at Nowabad said, “On February 25, 2020, Rohit Anand, son of Subash Anand, resident Puran Nagar, Talab Tiloo, Jammu reported at Ppolice Post Talab Tillo that some unknown person has stolen away his Maruti car (Alto-LX) bearing registration JK02AA-0912 from outside of his house.”
“On this, a case FIR No 37/2020 under Section 379 IPC was at PS Nowabad and investigation started, which was taken-up by SI Kali Charan, IC PP Talab Tillo,” she added.
During investigation, she said, many suspects were rounded up, leads were developed and footage of CCTV cameras, based on which one Jashbir singh alias Sonu, son of Avtar Singh, resident Thanda Pani Tehsil Sunderbani District Rajouri was arrested.
During questioning, she said, Jashbir admitted his involvement in aforementioned theft case and on his disclosure car No. JK02AA-0912 was recovered from his possession.
On further questioning, SP North said, Jashbir disclosed that two more persons namely Rashpal singh alias Kaka, son of Budhi Singh and Chain Singh, son of Pritam Singh, both resident of Khawas, district Rajouri at present Purkhu camp, Jammu are also involved in aforesaid case.
Accordingly, she said, they were also arrested from their native places and brought to Jammu.
During enquiry, they admitted their involvement in two more cases of PS Nowabad and on their instance three more vehicles were recovered, she said.
The vehicles Maruti 800 (JK02V-3933); Alto LX (JK02AA-0912); Maruti 800 (JK02AA-1184) and car bearing RR No Eng No F8BIN3720465 and Ch No MA3ECA12SO2624985 were recovered.
One Santro Car involved in commission of crime has also been seized.
