Innovative Orientation program “Catch them Young” organised at GDC Udhampur

JAMMU, Sep 29: Carrying on the torch of Aazadi Ka Amrut Kaal for Aatmanirbhar and Karmath Bharat a maiden orientation programme was organised in the Multi-purpose hall of the college by the New Science Club for member students under the supervision of Dr. Firdoos Ahmad Itoo and Patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta.

The main aim of the program was to make students understand the importance, applicability vis-à-vis practicality of new education policy in the field of sciences.

The club being exclusively meant for science students, henceforth, to inculcate scientific temperament and core scientific approach arranged today exposure lectures in the domain of Physics, Bio-technology/Genetics, Botany/Life Sciences and Environmental Science.

The Patron Dr. Romesh Gupta applauded the unique idea of the club to involve the youth and the slogan of the club to Catch Them Young.

He accentuated on developing and inculcating criticality, logicality and innovative thinking, so that our students usher up with new scientific innovations and inventions as well. He apprised all present about the various programmes of the college at hand for the development of research ecosystem in the college to cater to the futuristic fields of learning.

The Programme, prior to this started with welcome address by the convener Dr. Firdoos Ahmad Itoo in which he told all faculty and members present about the modus-operandi of the New Science Club. He said that the club shall have various sub-clubs to cater to different domains of science. He also presented a tentative calendar of activities that the club shall be executing in the coming days.

In the technical session of the orientation, the faculty members who shall be the Parent-Patrons of the member students namely Dr. Swaran Singh for Botany, Prof Rakesh Singh from Physics, Dr. Richa Sharma from Biotechnology/Genetics and Prof. Asha Sohal from the Department of Environmental Science oriented the students about their respective domains of study and also apprised the student members about the various aspects and perspectives that they can achieve by working in these domains of science. They unanimously made clear to the students that the purpose of the club is to provide platform to students in executing their novel ideas with full support.

The program reached to culmination with vote of thanks by Ravit Singh, one of the Student Members of the New Science Club.
