JAMMU, Apr 22: The three-day Dharna started by All Jammu Parents Association President Amit Kapoor at Ambphala Chowk against the looting of private schools continued for the second day.
Many social, literary, non-governmental organizations and other political leaders participated in the Dharna.
A large number of media persons also reached the protest venue and covered it and showed that they are also with the movement started under the leadership of Amit Kapoor on this issue of public interest.
At the same time, he paid heartfelt tributes to the soldiers who were martyred in the terrorist attack in Poonch district. He wished his soul to rest in peace by keeping silence for two minutes.
Amit Kapoor said that the nation will always be indebted to their sacrifice and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved families.
Expressing his views during this, Amit Kapoor said that this three-day Dharna is to wake up the administration which was sleeping in the deep slumber.
He told the Lieutenant Governor that if he is serious about ending the mafia of private schools, then give him 5 minutes to meet and you will be given all the proofs.
He said that if you do not do this, then it will be clear that you are not serious about ending this mafia and this mafia also has your protection.
Chief among their demands is immediate refund of the fees charged by JKFFC in excess of the fixed fees and an order should be issued immediately for this.
Like passenger vehicles, the fare of buses plying of private schools should also be fixed on the basis of kilometer. He said that some schools are looting children by taking bus fare from 1500 to 5000 and the traffic department is sleeping like Kumbhkaran.
The policy of Right to Education Act has come into force from the year 2020 but it has not yet been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir. It should be clarified that how many schools have so far given free education to poor children under this policy. At the same time, no action has been taken even after giving concrete evidence to the teams constituted by the department. Task forces should be formed in place of these teams and those people who are well-versed in the matter should be included in it.
Action should be taken against the private schools which are not using NCERT or Board books and the books of the children who have taken more books should be taken back. Action should be taken against the schools which have imposed books arbitrarily. Uniforms should also be changed only after five years and books and uniforms should not be sold at special shops or at the school’s own shops. No school should be allowed to have more than two uniforms and the uniform should be changed only after five years.
Private schools charging more than the fees fixed by JKFFC, or charging more fees or setting books arbitrarily should be seized. The salary given to the teachers of private schools should also be made public so that the discrimination against these teachers can be ended. He alleged that private schools do not even deduct the PF of the teachers and most of the schools fire the teachers after one year so that their PF does not have to be deducted.
He again demanded LG Manoj Sinha to give him 5 minutes to meet him, he would give all the proofs so that the mafia which looted private schools could be reined in. He said that if they do not do this, then it will be clear that the mafia which looted private schools is under your protection.
