KATHUA, Sep 29: Principal GDC Kathua Prof. Sumanesh Singh Jasrotia today felicitated the winners of District level Kabbaddi Tournament under My Youth My Pride (MYMP) Campaign launched by Honourable Governor UT of J&K Manoj Sinha, organized by J&K Sports Council at Sports Stadium Kathua.
The felicitation ceremony was organized by the Department of Physical Education and Sports, GDC Kathua.
The Kabaddi Men Team of GDC Kathua defeated the Kabbadi team of District Kathua sports Council in straight matches by the lead of 14 points.
Previously, GDC Kathua Kabbadi Mens Team defeated the Basohli and Bani Teams by 21 and 19 points. The Principal of the college applauded the students of Mens Kabaddi team for this marvellous win in the district level tournament.
He also congratulated the Director Sports Dr Jogbinder Singh Soodan for the miraculous achievement of the students of the college.
On other hand, Principal GDC Kathua also felicitated the members of Runner Up Kabaddi Women team who have lost the final trophy by 06 points from Women Kabaddi Team of Sports Council Kathua.
The Principal stressed upon the fact that he sports persons of the college are always bringing great laurels to this premier institute in University Intercollegiate Competitions, All India Inter University, State level and National and Sr. National Level.
He also explained that the department of Physical Education and Sports under the able supervision of its Physical Director/PTI Dr J S Soodan is showing outstanding performance not only in the field of sports but, in academics also by organizing International Certificate Course and Webinars in collaboration with Foreign Universities and International Organizations of the world.
Principal was accompanied by the senior faculty members of the College including Prof. Raj Kiran (Convenor Sports Board), Prof. Rakesh Singh Jasrotia Head Department of Chemistry and Coordinator IGNOU, Dr. Sumit Dubey, Department of Mathematics, Lt.(Dr.) Rachna Devi ANO and HOD Psychology,Lt. (Dr.) Verinder Singh, HOD PG Department of Geography, Dr Shamsher Singh, HOD Urdu, Dr Kamaldeep Singh, HOD Punjabi, Dr. Pinky Sharma. Later on, Esteemed Principal distributed Runner and Winner Trophies to the participating Teams.
He has also honoured the elite Kabaddi players of GDC Kathua with floral garlands to the members of College Men & Women Kabbaddi Teams, who represented the college at District Level Competition on the theme My Youth My Pride Campaign launched by Governor UT of J&K Manoj Sinha during the felicitation ceremony here at GDC Kathua.
