FFMA pays tributes to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan on 133rd Birth Anniversary

JAMMU, Dec 23: Freedom Fighters Memorial Association (FFMA) on Friday celebrated 133rd Birth Anniversary of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, first Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir State and third Chief Justice of India at Dogra Shourya Sthal Amphalla, under the Chairmanship Rajiv Mahajan.

A large number of people including intellectuals, professionals, social activists etc attended the function.

Rajiv Mahajan Chairman of Association in his address appealed the people to follow the path shown by Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan.

While paying tributes to Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan, he appreciated the contribution of Justice Mahajan as a member of Redchif Committee which played major role in connecting J&K with rest of India through Gurdaspur.

He threw light on the contribution of Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan for which not only the people of Jammu but entire nation feel proud of him as he had worked for the welfare of the communities irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region.

Mehar Chand Mahajan was the third Chief Justice of India. His contributions for both on and off the Bench, will always remain a philosophical stimulus for the legal fraternity. Law Reports are a testimony of his work as a judge. He authored many famous decisions and landmark cases. Justice Mahajan made his name as an accomplished lawyer, a respected judge, and an influential politician, he added.

Mahajan, while paying his tributes, said that Justice Mehar Chand Mahajan has worked on various important assignments during his life, but his position as Prime Minister of J&K was a formidable challenge for him.

The biggest challenge and achievement of Mahajan’s career was during the few months that he was the Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from October 15,1947 to March 1948.
